SRC/VHF
SRC certificate (Short Range Certificate) is a maritime radio communication certificate.
It authorizes the use of VHF radios with DSC (Digital Selective Calling) on recreational boats and smaller vessels in coastal waters.
Who needs an SRC
- Operators or users of recreational vessels with a VHF radio
- Required if a VHF radio is installed on board
What does the SRC certificate allow you to do
- Operate a VHF radio with DSC
- Send and receive distress, urgency, and safety messages
- Use Channel 16 and other maritime VHF channels
What you will learn in the course

Prices 2026:
- Course fee: NOK. 4.790,-
- Textbook: NOK. 398,- (optional)
- The theory exam is taken via the Norwegian Maritime Authority’s website
- Fee payable to the Norwegian Maritime Authority for issuance of the certificate: NOK. 706,-

- Duration: 1 day from 09:00-18:00 (including breaks)
- You attend the course from a PC, laptop, or tablet wherever it suits you.
